Andy the Electric Eel's Jellyfishing Lesson
It was a beautiful sunny morning at Jellyfish Fields, and SpongeBob and Patrick were getting ready for their favorite activity - jellyfishing!
"I'm ready! I'm ready! I'm ready!" SpongeBob sang, swinging his net.
"I'm ready too!" Patrick said, even though he was holding his net upside down.
As they walked through the field, they spotted someone they'd never seen before - a young electric eel carefully catching jellyfish with an expert technique.
"Wow!" SpongeBob gasped. "Look how good he is!"
The electric eel noticed them and waved. "Hi! I'm Andy! I just moved to Bikini Bottom!"
"I'm SpongeBob, and this is Patrick! What's that you're carrying?"
Andy held up a small stuffed bunny. "This is Mr. Hoppers! He's my best friend and he comes jellyfishing with me everywhere."
"Hi Mr. Hoppers!" Patrick said, waving at the stuffed bunny.
"You're really good at catching jellyfish!" SpongeBob said admiringly. "How do you not get stung?"
Andy smiled. "My dad taught me! Want me to show you some tricks?"
"YES PLEASE!" both SpongeBob and Patrick shouted.
Andy set Mr. Hoppers down safely on a rock and demonstrated. "First, you have to move slowly and calmly. Jellyfish sting when they feel scared or threatened. Watch."
Andy approached a jellyfish very gently, moving his net in smooth, slow motions. The jellyfish barely noticed him before it was safely in the net.
"See? Nice and easy. Now you try, SpongeBob!"
SpongeBob took a deep breath and copied Andy's smooth movements. He approached a jellyfish slowly and carefully - and caught it without getting stung!
"I did it! I didn't get zapped!" SpongeBob cheered.
"Now you, Patrick!" Andy encouraged.
Patrick tried to move slowly, but he tripped over his own feet and fell face-first into a group of jellyfish.
ZAP! ZAP! ZAP!
"Ow! Ow! Ow!" Patrick yelped, running in circles.
"Patrick!" Andy called. "Don't run! Stand still and they'll leave you alone!"
Patrick stopped running and stood very still. Sure enough, the jellyfish floated away peacefully.
"Oh," Patrick said, rubbing his stung nose. "That's good to know."
They practiced for the next hour, with Andy teaching them how to read jellyfish body language and when to back away if a jellyfish looked agitated.
"You're a great teacher, Andy!" SpongeBob said. "Thanks for helping us!"
"No problem! That's what friends do!" Andy picked up Mr. Hoppers and gave him a little hug. "Mr. Hoppers and I are happy we met you guys!"
"Do you want to go jellyfishing with us again tomorrow?" Patrick asked.
"Definitely!" Andy grinned. "And maybe next time I can teach you the loop-de-loop catch!"
As they walked home together, SpongeBob thought about how lucky they were to make a new friend who was so kind and helpful.
And Patrick thought about how Mr. Hoppers was a very good bunny for not getting stung even once.
The End.
